My Maths Learning

In my class for maths we are learning fractions. On our hub site there is tasks and this is one of them. Hope you enjoy.

Pirate Swords On the pirate ship there are 24 pirate swords. Each pirate has 2 swords. If half the pirates lost a sword in battle and a quarter of the pirates each gained a new sword, how many swords would there now be on the pirate ship?

 Half of 24 is 12 Quarter of 12 is 4 12 + 4 = 16
16 is the answer

If a third of the swords were then lost how many would there be left?

 3x4 is 12 so ⅓ off 12 is 4.
The answer is 4.
